Harbourgate

Having delivered a masterplan for the former Johnson & Johnson site at Southampton Road, Portsmouth a site elongated as a result of changes to the traffic routing on the A27. Scott Brownrigg was appointed by Asda Properties Ltd. to develop one of the resulting flagship sites.

This consisted of 125,268 sq ft of high-quality industrial space split between four units. A flexible building design meant that the units can be subdivided to accommodate smaller tenants and/or allow a higher percentage of office space. Such was the success that one unit was pre-let to Highbury College as a workshop facility for its budding plumbers, plasterers, and electricians as the ground broke. The remaining units have been occupied by single tenants.

The quality of the architecture and layout of the scheme set the precedent for the design approach to the site and created a distinctive character for Southampton Road. The development and design have won and been nominated for numerous awards.
