Holmhurst
Surrey
Holmhurst was a detached 4 bedroom two-story home built in a traditional Surrey vernacular style located at the end of a no-through road. As such it enjoys wonderful country views and tranquillity.
Over the years the home had been extended on numerous occasions and had reached a point where it suffered from a lack of overall cohesiveness, spaces had become disconnected and existing spaces disproportionate as the footprint grew. Generally, it failed to respond to modern living standards.
Due to the accumulation of past extensions in the context of a Green Belt setting, achieving new and additional areas was accepted as a significant planning challenge. By drawing on every aspect of planning gain available, Mesh was able to offer a significant uplift to the footprint to achieve a home that enjoyed cohesive spatial flow, responded to modern living standards, and maximise the opportunities presented by the site.
The home now presents as a 5 bedroom, two en-suites, and two reception, with a family dining and entertainment area seamlessly connecting to covered external entertainment spaces and sun terraces. Not only has the existing character of the main elevation been enhanced with the addition of a further gable but so too has the somewhat neglected but all-important rear elevation to form a comprehensive and coordinated makeover.
